Storm damage to South Ayrshire Council's Citadel in Ayr will delay the much awaited opening of the new gym facilities.
The Council is investing £450,000 to provide a state-of-the art gym, however the recent severe storms that have swept across the west of Scotland have caused water ingress to the roof.
The roof damage means that there is significant water ingress and equipment cannot be installed in the new gym until repairs have been carried out.
The gym was due to open on Saturday 20 December 2014, however this will now have to be delayed until mid January, subject to weather conditions.
The contractor is working closely with the Council to get the new gym open as quickly as possible and the public will be notified as soon as a new date for the opening is known.
All Citadel members have been informed of the delayed opening and further reduced members charges until the new gym is open.
