Still time to nominate young people who make a difference

 22 October 2014  |

Do you know a young person who is dedicated to their sport? A young volunteer who helps others in your community? A young outstanding artistic talent? A performer who performs way beyond their young age? Someone who is struggling with adversity but despite being young is never defeated?

If so, then why not nominate them for a South Ayrshire Youth Forum Award, to recognise, celebrate and reward their achievements.

Nominations close on Friday 7 November 2014 and can be made by logging on to www.south-ayrshire.gov.uk/youthforum .

An award ceremony will take place on Thursday 4 December 2014 at Troon Concert Hall, where the winner of each category and the overall winner will be announced.

This year the theme for the Youth Forum Awards is 'I'm a celebrity get me out of here' with a jungle setting - snakes, spiders, rats and much more.

Councillor Margaret Toner, Lifelong Learning Portfolio Holder said: "Nominating a young person for a South Ayrshire Youth Forum Award is a great way to recognise their efforts for others and celebrate their achievements.

"Anyone can nominate a young person aged between 14 and 25 years who lives in South Ayrshire, helping to acknowledge their generosity, skills, talents and selfless acts which inspire people of all ages."

In 2014, there are thirteen nomination categories and the nomination form is easy to complete. A panel of experienced youth workers will assess the nominations and 3 finalists from each category will be invited to attend the awards ceremony where the winner will be announced!

In addition, one overall winner will also be picked, so get nominating now and help celebrate the achievements and talents of young people in South Ayrshire! The categories are:

  • Personal Achievement in Sport
  • Helping the Community in Sport
