South Ayrshire's got talent - Ayr's festive lights switch on

An exciting programme of entertainment will take place on Ayr High Street on Sunday 20 November when South Ayrshire Council Provost Winifred Sloan will switch on the Festive lights.

The afternoon of entertainment and festive fun starts at 4pm building to the moment at 6pm when Provost Sloan will light up the town centre by switching on the festive lights.

South Ayrshire's very own Jai McDowall, a local singer who won Britain's Got Talent, will be coming home and performing for the crowds.

Joining him will be Jill Jackson, a singer songwriter from Paisley, described in the Nashville press as the Scottish Songbird, who will bring her own unique style to the contemporary country scene.  Also performing will be Non Jove – a Bon Jovi tribute band and the Gospel Truth Choir.

Provost Sloan said:  "We have outstanding musicians joining us for the festive  lights switch on and I know that local people and visitors to the town centre will be able to enjoy the event.

"I would encourage everyone to come along and join in the fun.  Make a day of it and do some early Christmas shopping, enjoy the entertainment and see the town  centre lit up by the lights.

The event will take place on stage in the High Street near the Wallace Tower and  will be hosted by DJ Colin McCardle from WestFM.

Provost Sloan added:  "This is a chance to see Jai McDowall and others perform for free at a fun festive event in Ayr town centre."
