South Ayrshire Council is congratulating its pupils today (4 August) as Scottish Qualification Authority exam results show further improvements at Higher and Advanced levels.
Fourth year pupils have also done well, with 95% achieving at least five awards at Standard Grade Foundation or above.
30% of pupils have achieved three or more Highers by the end of S5, the best result for over eight years.
But the good news doesn't stop there!
Advanced Higher results mirror the performance at Higher Level, with almost a fifth of pupils achieving at least one Advanced Higher, again the best results in eight years.
More than half of all pupils (51%) gained at least one Higher award by the end of their fifth year and 15% got five or more Highers.
Councillor Hywel Davies Portfolio Holder for Lifelong Learning said: "South Ayrshire Council prides itself on delivering a high quality education to our young people and we make sure the learning experiences focus on the needs of each learner.
"Our approach prepares young people for the lives they will lead in the future, offering more choices and chances for them to succeed as they proceed towards positive destinations once they leave school.
"This ethos is now firmly embedded at the heart of Curriculum for Excellence and it is clearly paying off.
"We also need to remember that many pupils will also have achieved awards and qualifications not covered by the Scottish Qualifications Authority – these are well deserved accolades and make a real difference in a young people's lives.
"South Ayrshire prides itself as a leading authority for Duke of Edinburgh Awards, offering a range of skills and learning experiences to young people.
"I said the challenge would be to build on last year's excellent results and I'm delighted we have managed to do that in almost all areas.
"The SQA results are a positive outcome for South Ayrshire and my congratulations go to everyone involved in achieving these very strong results.
"They are a direct reflection of the dedication, hard work and commitment of the pupils and the team of teachers, staff, parents and carers who support them on their journey to becoming the highly qualified and responsible young citizens of tomorrow.
