People across South Ayrshire will pause on Sunday 9 November 2014 to pay their respects to those who laid down their lives for their country.
South Ayrshire Provost Helen Moonie said: "It is very important that we remember those people who laid down their life for their country so that others may have a better future.
"Some people choose to find a quiet spot and remember on their own, others prefer to attend a memorial service. Many people find the memorial services, which bring communities together for this very important event, a great comfort to them.
"Whatever way you choose to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country, what matters is these heroes will never be forgotten."
Services will take place throughout South Ayrshire. In Ayr an Act of Remembrance will take place with the two minute silence during Morning Service which starts at 10.50am and will be conducted by the Rev David Gemmell at the Auld Kirk of Ayr (St John the Baptist). The service will be attended by John Duncan, Lord Lieutenant of Ayrshire, South Ayrshire Provost Helen Moonie, MPs, MSPs, representatives of the armed forces, Ayrshire Yeomanry, B Coy 52 Lowland 6 Scots, military cadets, police and fire services, Royal British Legion and uniformed youth organisations.
Following the service, the Provost will lead the procession from the church to the War Memorial at Wellington Square where, during a short service lead by the Reverend David Gemmell, Minister of Ayr Auld Kirk, wreaths of red poppies will be laid, followed by a further two minute silence, the sounding of the Last Post and Reveille and the National Anthem.
Similar Remembrance Ceremonies will also take place at the War Memorials in Troon, Prestwick, Maybole and Girvan and smaller ceremonies at villages throughout South Ayrshire, led by the local Minister and attended by local Councillors, who lay wreaths.
Members of the public are warmly welcome to attend any of the Remembrance Ceremonies.
