Phil Cool
Raucous rubber faced funny man and sensational impressionist Phil Cool comes to Ayr Town Hall on Saturday 18 August from 7.30pm and promises a nostalgic evening of merriment and hilarity, doing what he does best – entertaining a live audience.
The bendy-boned, comic chameleon pioneered original and creative comedy in the 1980s and 1990s and, in his live show at Ayr Town Hall, he re-visits many of the faces and voices that characterised his award winning television shows – as well as presenting new and updated work.
While many of Phil's fans today are those brought up on his comedy through television and those who know his work through his live shows, an increasing number of younger people have been discovering his comic genius through posts on YouTube.
The show will feature something for everyone, with David Beckham, Tony Blair and Rolf Harris rubbing shoulders with the likes of Bugs Bunny, Mr Bean and Clint Eastwood.
Prince Charles is also expected to make an appearance and his lampooning of star Trek, David Attenborough and even Pulp Fiction is as life-like as it is hilarious!
However, audiences will also get to see another side of the colourful performer as Cool's impressions are wound around a modern twist on life, with his wry observations, anecdotes, sketches and songs, which are timeless, priceless and side-splittingly funny.
Many of today's top comics remember 'Cool It' and 'Cool Head' as series that changed their own lives, but Phil Cool still has the ability to delight and enthral his audiences with lightning fast transformations and a wit that has sharpened with time.
Renowned impressionist Alistair McGowan says: "It was Phil who most inspired me to do impressions", while Jon Culshaw added: "Cool It was unmissable. On so many occasions Phil was the reason I missed doing my A level homework!"
Cool's popularity remains as enduring as ever, with sell-out shows a regular feature in his 20 years of touring.
He says simply: "Both the BBC and ITV gave me some wonderful years, but my real love is performing to a live audience and I have never stopped doing that."
Residents and visitors to South Ayrshire can now enjoy the unique talent and extraordinary entertainment offered by Phil Cool at Ayr Town Hall on Saturday 18 August 2012 from 7.30pm.
