As flags fly at half-mast at County Buildings in Ayr as a mark of respect for all those affected by Saturday's terror attack in London, South Ayrshire Provost Helen Moonie sends thoughts and prayers from the people and communities of South Ayrshire:

"Once again, the freedom and liberty that we all take for granted have been attacked in a sickening and cowardly act and our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by events in London.

"Our response must be to show defiance, determination and a desire to ensure that the values we hold dear remain strong and steadfast and we don't let extremists win.

"We send our deepest condolences to all those who lost loved ones, friends and family, and best wishes to those who were injured on what should have been a fun and enjoyable Saturday night in the city. We are thinking of you all."
