Mr Hugerich, Burgermeister of Lichtenfels in Germany was in Prestwick recently to mark over 40 years of friendship between the two towns.

Pen was put to paper at an official ceremony to commemorate the occasion and recognise the hard work of the twinning associations.

Since 1974, the two towns have enjoyed a special relationship and benefitted from exchange visits which develop language skills, broaden horizons and help forge friendships that last a lifetime. Business links have also been explored to mutually benefit the towns and help enrich local economies.
