Opportunities For Carrick Young People
A unique 'South Carrick Schools Out Opportunities Day' a free event, will take place in the Carrick Buildings, Henrietta Street in Girvan from 11 am to 2 pm on Friday 4 June 2010.
The aim of the day is to make employability information freely available to local young people who are planning to leave school, or have recently left. The event will raise awareness of local education, training and employment opportunities available now and in the future.
Councillor John Hampton, Youth Champion for South Ayrshire Council said: "This is a great opportunity for young people from South Carrick to meet local employers and college representatives in the same place.
"The event has been co-ordinated by a partnership between South Ayrshire Council, Skills Development Scotland, Girvan Youth Trust and Girvan Academy.
"I would encourage all young people who are either about to leave school, thinking about leaving, or have recently left to go along and see the wide range of options available to them."
There will be information stands hosted by a range of agencies and organisations, and consultation stations where young people will be asked to give their views on the difficulties they perceive for people in their age group trying to get into the labour market. It is anticipated that this feedback will assist delivery agents to plan local provision more effectively in the future.
On completing the consultation, young people will receive a complimentary 'goody bag' containing promotional items and information as well as free entry into the prize draw to win an i-pod shuffle.
