South Ayrshire Council is committed to building on the improvements carried out to some housing stock in Lochside and will be consulting with the local community to see what improvements can be made to other homes.
Councillor Douglas Campbell, Portfolio Holder for Housing said: "We have already transformed the homes of many of our tenants in Lochside and are now looking at how we can improve other homes in the area.
"We are going to consult with the community of Lochside and listen to the preferred options of the residents. Our aim is to meet the long term housing aspirations of the community, whether they are tenants or home owners.
"All residents will have been sent a letter informing them how about how we are going to consult with them. It is important that we get this consultation right.
"We look forward to working with the local community to shape the future of housing in Lochside."
Consultation events will be held at Lochside Community Centre at 10am on Monday 28 November and from 6pm to 8pm on Monday 5 December.
Councillor Campbell concluded: "The consultation events will be an opportunity for the community to give us their opinions and if they come up with new ideas we will listen, work out the cost implications and carry out further consultation."
In 2008 the Council agreed to invest over £6 million in 12 maisonette blocks in Lochside. After consultation with the local community, three maisonette blocks at Glenmuir Road were renovated and redesigned to get remove unused communal areas. This increased the size of some homes and ensured that each property met the Scottish Housing Quality Standard by 2015.
Following the consultation a report on the improvement programme in Lochside, along with fully costed options will be presented to a future Leadership Panel for members consideration.
