Whatever the weather there is something in South Ayrshire Council's Summer 2010 programme of activities to suit children and young people of all tastes. Beach arts, seaside fun trail, volleyball, football, rounders, parachute games and much more are on offer.

Councillor Margaret Toner, Economic Development, Tourism and Leisure Portfolio Holder visited the Citadel in Ayr to see for herself just some of the activities available there and at the beach. A wide range of activities is available across the whole of South Ayrshire.

After speaking to the children and staff she said: "Keeping children busy during the summer holidays makes for contented children and happy parents.

"Our Summer 2010 programme has something to suit all interests and many of the activities do not need to be pre-booked, simply turn up on the day and register and a few have to be booked in advance.

"It is important for young people to get plenty of healthy exercise and have a chance to spend time with their friends and to make new friends through taking part in activities.

"This summer many families are choosing to stay at home and enjoy the wide range of interesting and exciting activities available in South Ayrshire, so pick up a programme and see what your children might like to do."
