Judges for the RBHA 2012 are encouraging people from all over the world to make their nominations.

Nominations for the prestigious Robert Burns Humanitarian Awards 2012 (RBHA) close tomorrow, Friday 4 November 2011, so there's just still time to make your own nomination!

First awarded in 2002, the international accolade recognises those who saved, improved or enriched the lives of others or society as a whole, through personal self-sacrifice, selfless service or 'hands on' charitable work.

It is supported by South Ayrshire Council, EventScotland, and VisitScotland and the winner will receive the equivalent of 1759 guineas, a sum which signifies both the year of the Bard's birth and the coinage then in circulation, as well as a specially-commissioned handcrafted award.

The Robert Burns Humanitarian Award Ceremony 2012 will take place next January, at the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum in Alloway.

The award is celebrating its eleventh year – and the nominee pool for the 2012 award is already matching the high quality and calibre of previous years.

Nominees can be from any part of the world and any age or gender and will follow in the footsteps of UNICEF ambassador and actor Ewan McGregor and Bollywood actress and political activist Shabana Azmi, who both hold the honour of being former RBHA nominees.

Nominations for the 2012 Robert Burns Humanitarian Award can be made online at  www.robertburnsaward.com until Friday 4 November 2011.
