SA1000 - Join us and get involved

Do you want to make your views known to decision makers across South Ayrshire? If you do, this is your chance to have your say and join the SA1000 citizens' panel.

The panel allows the Council and partners to consult with residents on a variety of issues and use the feedback to improve and develop services. You will be asked to fill in between two and three surveys per year and there may be focus groups from time to time.

If you would like to express your views on issues such as health and social care, transportation or community safety, SA1000 is right up your street. You need to be resident in South Ayrshire and be 16 or over, but that's it.

Your responses really do make a difference, in a previous survey 23% of panel members expressed concern about walking alone at night and their fear of dangerous drivers. As a result, CCTV operations were expanded in Ayr, Troon, Prestwick, Maybole and Girvan and we agreed a new road safety plan to help reduce accidents on our roads.

Beth said: "We need to spread the word about SA1000. I like being able to have input into decisions that affect my community."

Panel member Colin says that where SA1000 is concerned, "the more the merrier" He uses the survey to highlight issues with the condition of community areas and wants to encourage more people to visit South Ayrshire.

Alasdair is keen to point out how easy it is to be involved "The surveys don't take up a great deal of time in the grand scheme of things, but can help to positively assess and contribute to the local area."

Brian said "Young people should get involved as local issues affect us all. SA1000 is a platform where everyone's opinion matters."

Councillor Bill McIntosh Leader of South Ayrshire Council said "I would encourage as many people as possible to take up this opportunity to feed their opinions to the Council and our partners. Your views are important to all concerned; the surveys don't take that long to complete and there are only a couple per year so it's an easy way to make your voice heard."

If you would like the opportunity to influence the future of services in your area, then you can apply to join SA1000 by completing the online recruitment form at www.south-ayrshire.gov.uk/sa1000
