In-car child safety seat clinics

How safe is your child's car seat? Has it been properly fitted? Is it the right size for your child?

South Ayrshire Council is running a campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of transporting children in unrestrained or incorrectly restrained children in vehicles.

Councillor Peter Convery, Sustainability and the Environment Portfolio Holder said: "We all have a duty to make sure that if we have children in our cars using a child seat that it is suitable for their age and correctly fitted.

"The free in-car child safety seat clinics will give parents, guardians and others who transport children a chance to have their child car seats checked by professionals.

"The aim of the clinics is to reduce the number of children who become casualties in road accidents due to incorrectly fitted or inappropriate car seats.

"Simply turn up and speak to our officers, a few minutes spent with them could mean the difference between a child travelling safely or being injured."

The free 'In-Car Child Safety Clinics' will take place:

10 am to 3 pm Tuesday 6 July 2010 Asda, Liberator Drive, Heathfield Retail Park, Ayr

10 am to 3 pm Tuesday 27 July 2010 Morrisons, Dukes Road, Troon.
