South Ayrshire Council's Housing Options Service has been awarded national accreditation by the Scottish Government for the quality of its service.
The prestigious HomePoint award comes just 12 months after a comprehensive review, aimed at improving advice and information services on offer at the Council's Housing offices.
HomePoint works to improve the standard of information and advice provision offered to people in Scotland and advice providers are assessed against demanding national standards.
The Council's housing service was inspected by Michael Bell Associates, an independent management consultancy, on behalf of the Scottish Government.
A wide range of areas were covered, including the quality of advice given to people facing homelessness, information offered to those seeking a new home and guidance given to those dealing with housing difficulties, or needing to resolve conflict with landlords.
Councillor Douglas Campbell, Portfolio Holder for Housing and Customer First presented the accreditation certificate to the Council's Housing Options Service and said: "It is personally rewarding to present this to all employees of the service and is a thoroughly well deserved award.
"Being able to access timely, accurate, helpful information and advice is hugely important to those most vulnerable members of our community, particularly during difficult and challenging economic times.
"HomePoint Accreditation recognises this and the hard work and dedication of our employees who deliver consistently high quality advice, information and services to customers in South Ayrshire and this was one of the highlights from the inspection visit."
"The Council was also assessed on how well it promoted other agencies and additional support that might be available to clients, including health care, social services and financial management.
"Here, excellent links with other partner agencies and the way clients can easily and effectively be referred to other relevant services were noted as a further strength of the Housing Options Service."
Councillor Campbell concluded: "I am proud the service has been rewarded with national accreditation and am confident that work will continue to build on and develop the excellence of this valuable resource."
