The fleet of foot, the debonair and the downright dashing have been hot footing it to Troon lately, as South Ayrshire Council's ever popular Tea Dances get back underway, following the comprehensive refurbishment of the town's Concert Hall.
Running on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 1pm and 3.30pm, the dancing is hosted by acclaimed keyboardist Alan McPike, whose tasteful arrangements and knowledge of the classics bring music to life with a 'Big Band' sound.
It's proving to be an intoxicating mix, as the sounds of the roaring 20s, 30s and 40s mix seamlessly with the glamorous heyday of ballroom dance.
Add a spicy dash of luscious Latin, a pinch of scintillating swing and a soupcon of the hot shoe shuffle and you've got a recipe for dance delight!
Councillor Margaret Toner, Portfolio Holder for Economic Development, Tourism and Leisure said: "The traditional afternoon tea dance, or thé dansant, as it is sometimes known, is a fabulous and unique social phenomenon, established in the Victorian era and we're delighted to keep it alive and kicking today.
"The newly refurbished Concert Hall, spacious floor area and first class facilities are a perfect backdrop to the dances, which are as popular now as they've ever been.
"It's a perfect opportunity for people of all ages and all walks of life to come together to experience the pleasures of dance and, at just £2.20 per session, it's cheaper and a lot more fun than going to the gym!"
It's an ideal time to waltz down to the Concert Hall for an afternoon of dancing fun!

Councillor Toner concluded: "Are you dancing, because we're asking?"
