Cyclists taking part in The Great Tour, a 64 day charity bike ride from Seaton in Devon to Ayr, were greeted by South Ayrshire Provost Winifred Sloan at the County Buildings in Ayr when they completed part of their route.
The purpose of the bike ride is to raise funds for Caravan, the grocery industries benevolent fund through sponsorship.
The cyclists circumnavigating Britain's coastline never losing sight, smell or sound of the sea during their 6,660 km cycle. A group of 40 cyclists take to the saddle every day, this comprises 20 cyclists who ride each day and 20 other cyclists who choose to ride certain sections.
After welcoming the cyclists to South Ayrshire, Provost Sloan said: "The team of cyclists was made up of people from the world of sport, celebrity, charity, politics, science and the arts who all have one love in common, cycling.
"I am particularly pleased the organisers chose to travel through South Ayrshire. This was the inaugural cycle challenge which I understand is to become an annual event, so we may well see the cyclists back in Ayr again.
"South Ayrshire is ideal for cyclists, with a wide range of cycle network paths which are used by local people and visitors to the area. We actively encourage employees to cycle to and from work, and when carrying out their business, to improve their physical and mental well-being. It is something people of all ages seem to enjoy and I personally have always supported."
The Provost hosted an informal reception in the County Hall for the cyclists to mark their achievement and wish them well for the rest of their journey.
