Art exhibition gets the thumbs up

Over 400 young people from schools across South Carrick had an opportunity to examine art works by some of Scotland's top artists when they received a visit from 'The Travelling Gallery'.

The Gallery is a custom-built bus, which brings art exhibitions to schools and communities throughout Scotland. The gallery has visited every community in South Ayrshire over the last 3 years to bring interesting and thought provoking exhibitions to young people and families.

The current exhibition "Eyes on the Prize" features art works by selected Scottish Turner Prize winners and nominees.

Councillor Margaret Toner, Lifelong Learning Portfolio Holder at South Ayrshire Council said:" I am delighted that through our Cultural Rucksack programme we are able to bring such an inspirational exhibition to South Ayrshire. The pupils were very enthusiastic and I was impressed with their questions and their opinions of the various art works."
