Exciting new community campus for Tarbolton

Published Friday, 21 February 2014

An exciting new community campus is set to be created in Tarbolton by South Ayrshire Council, providing a stimulating and purpose built learning environment for local children.

The Council begins a consultation on Monday 24 February 2014, paving the way for a new community campus for teaching primary and nursery children to be established in the village in early 2016.

The consultation will give parents/carers, pupils, staff and the local community an opportunity to comment on the potential relocation of the primary and nursery schools if the campus is to be built on a site other than the present school site.

Councillor Margaret Toner, Lifelong Learning Portfolio Holder for South Ayrshire Council said: "This is an exciting time for children and families in Tarbolton and will bring wider benefits for the local community.

"The consultation will give members of the school, local and extended community an opportunity to work in partnership with us to ensure that we continue to deliver the best level of education possible in a brand new campus fit for the 21st century.

"Crucial to the success of this project is establishing a community campus and officially re-designating Tarbolton Nursery School to a Nursery Class, which has in fact been the case for a number of years."

The consultation will run until Friday 4 April 2014 and will include a public meeting at 7.30pm on Wednesday 19 March 2014 in Tarbolton Primary School.

Councillor Toner concluded: "I would encourage everyone with the school to take part in the consultation and help us to provide a new exciting education and community facility in Tarbolton."

Information about the proposals, and details of how to comment, will also be available on the Council's website at www.south-ayrshire.gov.uk/consultations.

The outcome of the consultation exercise will be reported to a future meeting of the Council's Leadership Panel.
