Ayr will play host to the 'Doonbank Trofee' on Sunday 24 January at Rozelle Park - a day of cyclocross racing for all ages, featuring members of the Scottish Commonwealth Games Cycle Team. This event is part of the National Super Quaich Series and organising group Ayr Burners Cycling are encouraging local residents to come out and enjoy the spectacle.
Cyclocross is the fastest growing and most popular branch of cycle sport in Scotland, being accessible for all ages and abilities, and always run in a safe environment.
The Doonbank Trofee will see almost 250 riders from right across Scotland come to South Ayrshire in time for the Burns Festivities and for a full day of racing. The competition includes youth races for under 8s to under 16s in the morning, followed by the main 'Super Quaich' adult events in the afternoon. Races are organised under the rules of British Cycling and The League International.
The racing starts at 10:45 and will finish just after 3pm.
