Cruise Ship Docks in Ayr
Provost Sloan, Stuart Cresswell, Port Manager, crew members, representatives from ABP Association of British Ports and Jakki Ross, South Ayrshire.
The German cruise ship Columbus made its inaugural visit to Ayr last week and was met by Provost Winifred Sloan, who presented welcome cruise packs to crew and passengers.
A few days later (Tuesday 31 August) the German cruise ship MV Europa made her second visit to Ayr.
Provost Sloan said: "I'm always delighted to welcome passengers and crew to South Ayrshire and hope they will have a wonderful time discovering the joys the local area, enjoying the warm Ayrshire hospitality and fantastic scenery on shore."
Provost Sloan continued: "South Ayrshire Council has worked closely with Association of British Ports, Ayr to ensure that passengers from cruise liners visit Ayr town centre as well as take bus trips to nearby attractions such as Culzean Castle and Turnberry golf course.
"Our aim is to showcase the very best of the local area and to encourage cruise visitors to come back to Ayrshire and explore this wonderful corner of Scotland for longer and in more depth.
