Contact Centre Receive A Commended Award

South Ayrshire Council's use of call centre technology has been commended at the finals of the Good Communication Awards 2010, held in London recently.

The Council was shortlisted for its work on the first phase of the new Customer Contact Centre, located within the John Pollock Centre in North Ayr, which provides a more efficient and modern service for callers who have enquiries about Council services.

Councillor Bill McIntosh, Leader of South Ayrshire Council said: "I am very pleased our entry made it so far and I congratulate everyone involved for their efforts. Our team had strong competition from local authorities and other public sector organisations and this is a terrific achievement, especially as our contact centre has only been in operation for a short space of time.

"The award is recognition of what can be achieved through hard work, dedication and teamwork and we will build on this success to further enhance the customer service experience for the people of South Ayrshire with improvements such as faster response times and a more efficient complaints handling process.

"The work that led to us achieving this award will help us to achieve our goal of establishing South Ayrshire as the most dynamic, inclusive and sustainable community in Scotland, committed to improving services across the Council."

Over £500,000 has been invested in the contact centre with employees using a Customer Relations Management system and state of the art telephony which affords us an opportunity to develop a joined up approach across the whole of the Council when handling callers enquiries.
