Six women from South Ayrshire have become published authors thanks to an innovative project delivered by South Ayrshire Council.
Come Back! is a book of moving stories, prose, testimonials and comics by a group of young women from in and around Ayr.
The book is the result of a short project during which they worked with a drama worker, a writer and comic artists team Metaphrog to explore the possibilities of writing and the comic medium to tell a tale.
The women produced written and artistic work that reflected the history of their lives and helped them communicated challenging experiences that they have faced.
Officers from South Ayrshire Council provided support for the woman as they took part in the creative experience.
Councillor Margaret Toner, Portfolio Holder for Economic Development, Tourism and Leisure said: "It is remarkable what these young women have achieved in creating the Come Back! book.
"This is a good example of how drama, writing and humour can assist people to express themselves, uncover talents they may be did not know they had, and help them reflect on their life experiences.
"I am positive that this book will be an inspiration to many."
Officers from South Ayrshire Council's Cultural Co-ordinator team, Skills Towards Employment Project (STEP) and Throughcare worked with the women to provide support and guidance during the project.
Funding for the Come Back! project was provided by South Ayrshire Council and South Ayrshire Community Planning Partnership.
Copies of Come Back! can be borrowed from South Ayrshire Council libraries or for a limited period only bought on line from Blurb by logging on to www.blurb.com where you will find Come Back! in the bookstore.
