Art to Inspire

 02 February 2015  |

As part of the arts programme at Rozelle a one day conference 'Art to Inspire' will be held on Saturday 14 February 2015 in the Maclaurin and Rozelle House Galleries, Ayr.

The conference will be chaired by Scottish journalist and broadcaster Ruth Wishart, and there will be opportunities throughout the day to examine the role of art in today's world.

Speaking about the conference Councillor Bill Grant, Economic Development, Tourism and Leisure Portfolio Holder for South Ayrshire Council said: "This one day conference is a fantastic opportunity for those who would like to hear some interesting speakers, learn more about the art world or reflect on different art forms. There are limited places and I would encourage people to book as early as possible to avoid disappointment."

  • The Golden Thread (art education in schools) Fraser Muirhead Art Master, Dollar Academy
  • James McNaught and Charlotte Riordan of Lyon and Turnbull talking about the collection.

  • Hanging the Gallery – gallery owner Vicki Cassidy, Mansfield Park Gallery, Glasgow.
  • Has art changed? Is it too safe? What is life like for an artist in 2015? Michael Clark and John Kingsley.
  • Result of competition with prize for winner and reason for selection – James McNaught and Charlotte Riordan.
  • Open session with Ruth Wishart
