The Hunterston Ayrshire Smilers!

The team of tour guides show visitors around EDF Energy's Hunterston B power station and explain the fascinating workings of the station. Welcoming people from the local area and much further afield on a daily basis to the visitor centre, which has a 5-Star rating by VisitScotland, the guides decided to rise to the challenge of enhancing their already excellent customer services skills.

Junior golfers Murray McCrone and Emma Hale have won this year's Tom Lehman trophies after beating tough opposition at the 2014 Troon Junior Open, contested over the town's Darley, Fullarton and Lochgreen courses, on Tuesday 5 August.

"It's the cat's whiskers – for poorly pups to coughing canines!" That's what South Ayrshire Provost Helen Moonie thinks of PDSA - one of eight charities adopted by South Ayrshire Council.

Provost Helen Moonie has welcomed 10 young girls from Chernobyl to South Ayrshire Council headquarters during their visit to the area, organised by the Ayrshire Link of the Chernobyl Children's Lifeline.
