Anne Cameron from Troon received an Outstanding Achievement Award from the Tenant Participation Advisory Service (TPAS) Scotland at their annual awards ceremony held in St Andrews.

The TPAS awards showcased the compelling and inspirational success stories of tenants, landlords and communities working together to provide high quality housing services. The event was an opportunity to celebrate the people and organisations that shape the work of tenants helping to shape the future of housing.

Councillor Philip Saxton, Housing and Customer First Portfolio Holder for South Ayrshire Council congratulated Anne on her award on behalf of the Council to mark her achievement.

Councillor Saxton said: "Anne was nominated for the award by South Ayrshire Council officers who hold her in very high esteem and appreciate the way she works in partnership with them.

"There have been a lot of changes in tenant participation at a national level, with tenants now being involved in the evaluation and self assessment of housing service performance. Anne has been integral to the development of this across South Ayrshire.

"Anne's award acknowledges her long standing support of tenant participation in south Ayrshire for over 23 years. In addition Anne is chair of Treetops Tenant and Residents Association in her home town of Troon."

Speaking about her award and her work with the Council Anne Cameron said: "On sitting down at table for dinner before the Good Practice Awards were made, I was flabbergasted to see my name short-listed for an award. I had no idea I had been nominated, for weeks a very well kept secret in South Ayrshire.

"I have worked very hard locally, regionally and nationally for 23 years and it is good to be acknowledged. Many thanks to all those who have helped and supported me during this time."

Council staff and Councillor Philip Saxton congratulated Anne on her success and presented her with flowers to mark the occasion (left to right) Michael Alexander, Housing Operations Manager Gordon Campbell, Tenant Participation Officer, Anne Cameron, David Burns, Head of Housing and Facilities Councillor Philip Saxton Housing and Customer First Portfolio Holder and Heather Anderson, Housing Policy and Strategy Officer.
