Update On Fundamental Review Of School Estate

Progress is being made with South Ayrshire Council’s fundamental review of its school estate that is being carried out working in partnership with the communities that the schools serve.

The review is being carried out in stages, with schools being given priority ratings so that work can be phased. The following schools have been identified as being in the ‘priority one’ category and which require further examination through options appraisal and discussion with appropriate communities:

  • Ayr Grammar Primary School
  • Colmonell Primary School
  • Pinwherry Primary School
  • Straiton Primary School
  • Whitletts Primary School
  • Marr College
  • Special Education schools

A lead officer and support officer have been allocated to each school and they have either had or will be having an initial meeting with Head Teachers, staff and Parent Council representatives. Further meetings will be scheduled so that various members of the local communities who have an interest in the school or the education process can take part.

The outcome of the review exercise will form the basis of the revised School Estate Management Plan.

Members of the Leadership Panel will receive regular updates on the progress being made with the review at future Panel meetings.
