Sheltered Housing Residents Of Troon And Dundonald Unite
Joining in the fun of cutting the cake
Over 100 residents from South Ayrshire Council sheltered housing units in Dundonald and Troon gathered at the South Beach Hotel in Troon for lunch and a lot more.
This was the first time that the residents from these units have taken part in one big social event which had to be held in a hotel to accommodate the large number of residents who wanted to attend.
Provost Winifred Sloan and Councillor Tom Slider, Chair of the Council’s Housing Panel were guests at the lunch, they spent time meeting residents and getting to know them.
Provost Sloan said: "I am sure that this lunch will be the first of many, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. As well as having a chance to meet socially the residents were able to exchange ideas about social events that they would like to arrange in the future. On hearing about the lunch a number of local businesses donated prizes, so some residents went home with an unexpected gift."
To mark the occasion of the residents getting together for the first time a celebration cake, that was created and donated by Sugar and Spice of Troon, was on display and later enjoyed by the guests.
A number of other businesses, including the South Beach Hotel, Kirstys Flowers, Broadlees Chemist and Morrisons supermarket donated prizes for the prize draw.
