A FREE Pre-retirement fair will take place in the Ramada Jarvis Hotel in Ayr on Friday 27 June 2008 from 11 am to 3 pm. The event is free and is aimed at anyone who is about to retire, there will be information available on a range of topics including:

• State benefits
• Social activities
• Healthy living – exercise, diet and alcohol
• Savings and investments
• Volunteering
• Caring
• Studying

The fair has been organised by South Ayrshire Council’s Community Integration Officer Older Peoples’ worker. It will have a market place theme so people can drop-in during the event , see what is available and get information from the stalls that are of interest to them.

Each stall will be hosted by a local agency, with representatives on hand to answer questions, offer guidance or advice and to make sure that those people taking retirement have access to a range of information specific to their needs.

Anyone living in South Ayrshire who is about to retire, or who has recently retired can come along to this event and learn more about the range of services and professional help on offer. Retirement is a significant time in anyone’s life and presents its own complications and opportunities. Having access to relevant information and advice can greatly help in making retirement a rewarding and happy time of life.
