Councillor Hugh Hunter, the Leader of South Ayrshire Council visited phase one of the new Prestwick Academy school building, due to be completed in October this year, to see the progress being made.

The new Prestwick Academy will cost £25.6 million pounds and is a key element of South Ayrshire Council's ambitious £76 million Public Private Partnership School building initiative.

After seeing the progress being made on the new building Councillor Hunter said: "The new Prestwick Academy is a very striking building with a powerful exterior that grabs your attention as soon as you see it. The Academy has been designed specifically to meet the needs of the pupils and has increased learning and leisure facilities inside the school as well as additional multi purpose outdoor space.

"The PPP project has embraced the Council's vision of new schools that are well designed, built to a high specification and managed by high quality staff. The new Prestwick Academy will provide outstanding facilities that will be enjoyed by the current pupils and by others for many years to come."
