New Community Hospital Facility For Girvan
Members of South Ayrshire Council’s Regulatory Panel have granted planning permission for a propsed new community hospital facility that will be built on land at Bridgefield in Girvan, it will include:
- In-patient and out-patient accommodation
- Rehabilitation suite
- Community casualty facility
- Local ambulance station offices
- Pharmacy
- Cafeteria
- Support accommodation
- Social work accommodation for South Ayrshire Council
Councillor Nan McFarlane, Chair of the Regulatory Panel said: “The proposed new hospital will give local residents easy access to a range of health and social care facilities in one location. By integrating a range of services staff from different agencies will be able to work together to deliver a high quality service to a rural community.”
A wind turbine will be fitted to supply the community hospital with all the power it requires.
A Green Travel Plan, to encourage staff and others using the hospital to use forms of sustainable transport other than cars, such as public transport, walking and cycling will be developed. Secure cycle racks will be installed for staff and a car sharing scheme implemented. Some people will have to use cars to get to and from the community hospital, so adequate parking will be provided that will include designated areas for disabled people and parents with young children.
The application will now be notified to the Scottish Ministers for their approval.
