Junior Golfers.

Over the last two weeks, the children who are part of the South Ayrshire Junior Golf Action Plan Junior Golf Development Programme have had their fun final evenings at the end of the 2007 programme.

These children have been attending coaching sessions over the last 4 months at local golf facilities and were coached by volunteer coaches from Ayr Belleisle, Bentinck and Welbeck Ladies, Dalmilling Ladies, Maybole and Girvan Golf Clubs.

After being introduced to golf during school time the P5 pupils were all offered the opportunity to learn more about golf using standard golf equipment. So far 806 pupils have experienced golf during school hours, with 161 of these progressing to use a local golf facility.

The final evenings were fun nights with all participants receiving prizes. The evening was made extra special as local Councillors came to see the children and coaches, speak to them and see them in action.

2008 will mark the third year of the South Ayrshire Junior Golf Action Plan and it is anticipated that even greater numbers of children will want to take part.
