Margo Williamson who will take up the post of Head of Educational Achievement and Quality Development with the Council in May

Margo Williamson will take up the post of Head of Educational Achievement and Quality Development within South Ayrshire Council in May 2008.

Margo will be leaving her current post of Programme Director of Curriculum and Assessment at Learning and Teaching Scotland to join the Council’s Education, Culture and Lifelong Learning Department.

Councillor Hugh Hunter, the Leader of South Ayrshire Council said: “Margo has a wide range of professional skills and experience in the field of education. I am delighted that she is joining us and am confident that her expertise will enable her to make a valuable contribution to the Council and to the education of people in South Ayrshire.”

Margo has considerable teaching and management experience in both school and higher education, where she worked as a senior lecturer. Her background and research interests are in literacy development and the role of ICT in learning. She has attended and given presentations at a range of national and international conferences and has been invited to contribute to several employee development events throughout Scotland.

Speaking about her career move Margo said: “I am looking forward to working with colleagues within South Ayrshire Council and members of the local community. Striving to provide the best possible educational support for young people is vital. Good educational experiences at a young age and during subsequent years can encourage people to keep building their skills throughout their life.”
