Council Tax Collection Rate

At 31 May 2008 South Ayrshire Council had a Council Tax collection rate of 10.95% which was above the previously set target of 10.77%.

This means that in financial terms the Council has collected £119,000 more than the target it set.

Members of the Council’s Leadership Panel receive a quarterly report on the Council Tax collection rate so that they can monitor the progress being made against previously set targets.

Councillor Bill McIntosh, the Council’s Portfolio Carrier for Resources and Performance said: “It is important that Council Tax collection rates are monitored closely. It is good news that once again Council employees are working hard to process household changes and issue additional bills so that collection rates can keep improving.

“Residents who pay their Council Tax bills promptly are helping us to maintain and improve services and I would like to thank you for helping the Council.

“I would like to remind people that that easiest way to pay Council Tax is by direct debit, it helps the Council to receive a steady income and it makes paying simpler.
