Council Tax Collection Rate Above Target

At 30 November 2007 South Ayrshire Council has a Council Tax collection rate of 66.37% that exceeds their previously set target of 66.35%.

In financial terms this means that the Council has collected £12,000 more than the target it set.

Councillor Bill McIntosh, the Council’s Portfolio Carrier for Resources and Performance said: “Recent changes to the operating hours of Council tax offices, that means that they are closed every Wednesday, has been very beneficial. Staff have been able to give priority to processing household changes and issuing additional bills. This has certainly helped to reduce shortfalls in Council Tax collection.

“The Council will continue to do everything it can to improve the collection rate of Council Tax year up to the 31 March 2007, which is the end of this financial year.”

Members of the Leadership Panel will receive another update on the Council Tax collection rate at the next Leadership Panel meeting on 29 January 2007.
