Comfort Scheme Launched At The Boars Head In Colmonell
The Boar's Head in Colmonell is the first business in South Ayrshire to sign up to South Ayrshire Council's Comfort Scheme. The scheme brings businesses and the Council together to work in partnership to provide toilet facilities for members of the public.
The Council has been examining alternative ways of providing publicly accessible toilets and has written to a number of businesses in South Ayrshire inviting them to take part in the Comfort Scheme.
Councillor Peter Convery, the Council's Portfolio Carrier for Sustainability and Environment said: "I would like to congratulate the Boar's Head on being the first business to take part in the Council’s Comfort Scheme. I truly believe that this is the way forward with businesses and the Council working in partnership, to ensure that the public have access to good quality facilities.
"Every business taking part will be publicised by the Council and Visit Scotland as a Comfort Scheme location. I would encourage other businesses to think about taking part in the Comfort Scheme and to contact the Council for further information."
After a business makes contact with the Council their premises will be assessed for suitability. If accepted for the Comfort Scheme a Minute of Agreement will be drawn up and signed by the provider and the Council to formally set up the partnership. This agreement will last for three years, or a shorter period of time by negotiation, premises can withdraw at any time by giving the Council two months written notice. Businesses must agree to have a sign placed at their premises indicating that they are an approved provider of this service.
Anyone who would like further information on the Comfort Scheme should contact the Council's Customer Services Team on telephone number 0845 6012020 during office hours.
