South Ayrshire Council Provost Winifred Sloan presented one Panel member, Brenda Mackinnon with a decanter to mark her long and dedicated service.
In 1983 Brenda Mackinnon applied to become a member of the Panel, and after going through all the necessary stages was appointed in 1984.
Since that time Brenda has worked tirelessly for the Panel, making informed decisions in the best interests of children. For decades she has worked with parents, guardians and members of various professions to help children who need care and protection, or those who have got themselves into a spot of bother.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony Provost Sloan said: “These days we all lead very busy lives, and for someone to give up so much of their leisure time to serve their community is remarkable.
“Brenda has a full time job within South Ayrshire Council’s Housing department and chooses to give up her precious spare time, that she could spend with her family and grandchildren, to help young people and their families. Brenda is an inspiration and an example to us all.”
