Members of South Ayrshire Council’s Provost’s Panel have approved a total of £36,556 of funding, from the Old Dailly George Todd Memorial Hall fund, for two projects in Dailly.

When the George Todd Memorial Hall in Old Dailly was sold the proceeds from the sale were placed into a fund to be used for the benefit of the people of Dailly and Old Dailly.

In 2003 Ayr Sheriff Court stated that how the net proceeds from the sale of the hall, £67,000, should be decided by South Ayrshire Council to ensure that the local inhabitants of Dailly and Old Dailly benefited. The Council decided that it would take recommendations from Dailly Community Council about projects that could benefit locals and receive future reports recommending dispersal of funds to individual projects.

The Provost’s Panel has decided that two projects will receive funds totalling £36,556 that will leave a balance of £30,544 in the fund:

Dailly Parish Church Congrational Board – funding of £31,556
The Board are currently involved in the refurbishment of their church hall to eliminate and treat dampness. Applications have been made to various funding providers without success. The Board has raised approximately £9,645 through local fundraising events and contributed it to the project. The church hall is a facility that is well used by groups such as the Woman’s guild, Young Anglers, Yoga classes, Country Dancing and the WRI.

Dailly Scout Group – funding of £5,000
The funding will be used to buy additional equipment for the Scout Hall and for outdoor activities. The additional facilities are required because of an increase in membership, it will be used to purchase tables and chairs, non slip floor covering, curtains, office equipment, floor mats and kitchen utensils. The group has recently received a large capital financial award towards the renovation of the actual hall itself.
