Board wants your feedback on new licensing policy
South Ayrshire Licensing Board is calling on people to make their views heard in advance of significant changes to the licensing law.
The Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 starts to come into force next year – which includes provision for every licensed premises in Scotland having to reapply for their licence The South Ayrshire Licensing Board has prepared a draft statement on how they will deal with new applications from March 2008
The draft can be found at: www.south-ayrshire.gov.uk/licensing/policyconsultation.htm and local people are being encouraged to put their written views forward before the cut-off date of 30th November 2007.
Licensing Board Chair, Councillor Douglas Campbell commented: “It’s vital that we hear from as many people as possible on the new laws coming into force.
“In particular, it is important that both licensees and the general public are aware of what the Board will be looking for in licensing applications, which must now meet the five key objectives set out in the Act.
“These are: preventing crime & disorder; securing public safety; preventing public nuisance; protecting & improving public health and protecting children from harm.”
He continued: “South Ayrshire Licensing Board will produce a report summarising the responses received and a list of those who provided consultation may also be included within the final version of the Policy Statement, so if you want to make your voice heard, let us know as soon as possible.”
