South Ayrshire Council Provost Winifred Sloan hosted a special 'Tea at 3' tea party, within the County Buildings in Ayr, in aid of the Ayrshire Hospice.

Throughout June 2006 thousands of people will be holding fundraising tea parties, or simply making a donation to have a cup of tea, to raise money for the Hospice movement.

Speaking about the tea party Provost Sloan said: "This is a great fundraiser which can be as simple as one person making a donation for a cup of tea, or someone organising and hosting a tea party.

"Throughout June thousands of people across the country will raise money by having 'Tea at 3'. All the funds raised will go to support the services offered by the Ayrshire Hospice.

All donations received through the 'Tea at 3' event, or in other ways, go directly towards providing the specialist care and services for which the Hospice is renowned. All patients, whether they are at home, in the Hospice, or in hospital, receive their care at no cost to themselves or their families.

Louis Jardine, Fundraising Manager for the Ayrshire Hospice said: "The Ayrshire Hospice is delighted the Provost and South Ayrshire Council supported our work by hosting such a prestigious event, where one of our major summer campaigns, 'Tea at 3' was launched."
