South Ayrshire golfers have been celebrating a very special event in Troon along with Gordon McKinlay who has been working for 25 years as a golf professional at South Ayrshire Council's Troon Links golf courses.
Councillor Bill Grant, Economic Development, Tourism and Leisure Portfolio Holder for the Council personally congratulated Gordon McKinlay on his special anniversary. He said: "Gordon McKinlay has been the golf professional at our Troon Links golf courses for 25 years, working in partnership with the Council to deliver a high quality service to golfers.
"The courses at Troon are magnificent, the grounds maintenance team really do look after them and keep them in tip top condition and they are well used by local people and visitors to the area. Whether they are just learning to play golf or are keen to improve their game Gordon McKinlay is always there to enthusiastically encourage them to take to the courses."
Gordon McKinlay said: "I cannot believe that it is 25 years since I started working in Troon on the superb South Ayrshire Council golf courses. I have a job I love, where I get a chance to promote the game of golf and encourage people to get up and active on the golf course. I particularly enjoy working with young people who take their first tentative swings and then watching them developing into competent golfers."
The Council has a varied choice of golf courses across South Ayrshire which all are maintained to a very high standard with eight fantastic courses, each offering a unique golfing challenge. The courses attract people of all ages and abilities and are enjoyed by local people and visitors alike.
