LEADER

LEADER is part of the new Scottish Rural Development Programme (SRDP 2007 - 2013), a European funding programme aimed at promoting economic and community development within rural areas. The aim of LEADER is to increase the capacity of local rural community and business networks to build knowledge and skills and encourage innovation and co-operation in order to tackle local development objectives. LEADER is delivered through a local partnership known as a Local Action Group (LAG).

Funding is available within Ayrshire rural settlements with a population of up to 10,000. Applications that support projects which benefit the rural community can be made by community organisations and public sector bodies. Individuals who have public support for projects which will be community driven and benefit wide sections of the community can also apply.
