South Ayrshire Will Not Tolerate Antisocial Behaviour

A ‘South Ayrshire wide’ Antisocial Behaviour Order (ASBO) has been granted at Ayr Sheriff Court for a male whose behaviour has been the basis for an ongoing case for the Antisocial Behaviour Team.

Councillor Hugh Hunter, the Convener of South Ayrshire Council’s Community Safety Committee said:  “I hope that the granting of this Antisocial Behaviour Order sends out a strong message to people involved in antisocial behaviour that they have to change their ways.  This type of behaviour makes other people’s lives a misery and it will not be tolerated in South Ayrshire.”

An ASBO is usually granted to keep a person away from a particular address or an exclusion area around a certain address or person.  Due to the circumstances surrounding the application made to the court the court saw fit to grant an ASBO that forbids the male to shout, swear, play music excessively loudly or fight anywhere that he resides in South Ayrshire.

Councillor Douglas Campbell>, the Chair of the South Ayrshire Community Safety Partnership said:  “In South Ayrshire there are services in place to help people change their antisocial behaviour and mend their ways.  An application is only made for an Antisocial Behaviour Order once other avenues have been fully explored but unfortunately have not helped.”

Anyone who would like to contact a member of the Antisocial Behaviour Team for free advice or assistance should telephone 01292 294060.
