Council’s Annual Accounts

South Ayrshire Council’s unaudited Annual Accounts that were presented to the Council’s Leadership Panel provided an overview of the financial performance of the Council during the financial year 2006/07.

Councillor Hugh Hunter, the Leader of the Council said: “There has been a lot of changes within the Council during the last financial year. Despite all the changes and financial pressures upon the Council we have still managed, after all our financial commitments have been met, to have £3.492 million of uncommitted funds.

“Last year the Council committed itself to establishing £2 million pounds of reserve funds by 31 March 2010, so from the £3.492 million of uncommitted funds £1 million will be put into this fund. A further £1 million will be set aside to assist in bridging the forecast budget gap for 2008/09. £1.3 million will be spent on priority projects. such as environmental improvements, roads maintenance, tourism, education and social work services.

The balance of just under £200,000 will be held transferred to the contingency fund for 2007/08.

The accounts will be available for public inspection for a period of 3 weeks during the audit and the dates will be advertised in the local press.
