FUNDING BOOST FOR TROON WINTERTAINMENT

South Ayrshire Provost Winifred Sloan presented a cheque for £500 to Troon Business Association that will be used towards meeting the costs for the 2005 Troon Wintertainment Fun Day.

Said Provost Sloan: "Troon Wintertainment Fun Day is an annual event which attracts local people, visitors to the area, and residents from other parts of South Ayrshire.

"Organised by volunteers who are members of the Troon Business Association there is something to appeal to every age group, a parade through the town centre, face-painting, shopping, live music and much more. Local shops are open and people can enjoy leisurely shopping as part of a family day out.

"In addition to organising the Wintertainment Fun Day the Association also contribute towards the cost of the Christmas lights in Troon which bring pleasure to many people during the festive season.

"I would like to thank members of the Troon Business Association for all their hard work and wish them well for the future."

The Troon Business Association began in 1997, it holds monthly meetings and aims to "promote Troon as a forward thinking town, moving with the times".

The Association applied for funding from South Ayrshire Council to help with the cost of staging the event, and £500 was approved from Council funding which is allocated to assist voluntary organisations.
