SHELTERED HOUSING - GROWING SUCCESS

Morrison Gardens Sheltered Housing Unit staged a 'Royal Garden Party' and Awards Ceremony for Best Hanging Baskets and Pots on 20th July 2006.

Sponsored by Craigie Community Association, the Baskets and Pots Competition is in it's second year and fiercely contested by our sprightly seniors. The unenviable task of judging took place a week prior to the event.

Provost Sloan was on hand to retrieve the Craigie Community Cup from the previous winner; Mrs Marion Cummings and present the trophy and gold medal to this years winner, Mr Henry McMorland.

Four tenants celebrated 80th Birthdays this year. Mr. Hugh Clarke (Community Association) presented each 'Queen for a Day' with a bouquet of flowers.

Prizes were awarded for best 'Floral Cuppa' with Miss Elaine Durward winning 'Special Award Medal for her 'Gold Blend' arrangement.

Mrs. Eleanor Hunter received a prize for her 'Cool Shades' design for National Shades Day and Mastermind Janet Mathieson secured a medal and prize in the Gardening Quiz.

All other participants were presented with silver medals and congratulated on their achievements by Provost Sloan.
