SOUTH AYRSHIRE MEDIATION SERVICE
The South Ayrshire Mediation Service is funded by the Scottish Government and delivered by the South Ayrshire Community Safety Partnership. Councillor Hugh Hunter, who is the Convener of South Ayrshire Council’s Community Safety Committee, said: “Participation in the service is voluntary and gives people involved in neighbourhood disputes a chance to discuss the situation with all parties in a safe, controlled and non-confrontational environment. Past experience has shown that most people will resolve their differences amicably.” All the mediators are specially trained and experienced in resolving a wide range of disputes. They are independent, will not pass judgement, and will not take sides. Chair of the South Ayrshire Community Safety Partnership, Councillor Douglas Campbell> said: “The service provides an opportunity for people to explain their feelings, say what is upsetting them and say how they would like the matter resolved. By all parties listening to each other and working with the mediator the majority of problems between neighbours can be sorted out so that people can live in harmony.” Anyone who would like help to sort out a dispute should contact the South Ayrshire Mediation Service direct on 01292 294063 or e-mail them on mediation@newtonprimary.south-ayrshire.gov.uk all enquiries will be treated in confidence.
