BENEFITS FROM LAND DISPOSAL
|
A number of pieces of land are to be disposed of at market value by South Ayrshire Council, following a decision by members of the Council's Commercial and Business Services Committee. The Convener of the Committee, Councillor Alistair Kerr said: "In November 2005 members of the Council's Social Justice Committee declared several pieces of land, which are part of the Council's Housing Revenue Account, surplus to requirements. "The matter was then referred to the members of my Committee to make a decision on the future of the land. "The Land is only being sold where the disposal of it will bring benefits to the Council, such as additional income from the sale, or where it will benefit residents of South Ayrshire, as with Socially Affordable Housing. "There are some very small pieces of land, which the Council has to meet the expense of maintaining, that adjoining occupants wished to purchase. Everyone benefits, the Council has additional revenue and the occupants get extra space. "Each application to purchase land from the Council is examined carefully and judged on its own merits." The following land will now be disposed of: Cunninghame Road, Prestwick: Following an approach from the occupant of a house adjoining an 8.5 square metres strip of land it will be sold to them. The disposal of this site will reduce maintenance costs and provide a capital receipt to the Housing Revenue Account. Fearnoch, Prestwick: Following an approach from the occupant of a house adjoining a 72.14 square metres strip of land it will be sold to them. The disposal of the site will provide a capital receipt to the Housing Revenue Account. Park Road, Girvan: A block of four flats that were on the site have been demolished. The disposal of this site will prevent the Council incurring ongoing maintenance costs and provide a capital receipt to the Housing Revenue Account. Kincaidston Drive, Ayr: Following an approach from the occupant of a house, who wish to extend their garden, about an adjoining 11 metre square piece of land it will be sold to them. The disposal of this site will reduce maintenance costs and provide a capital reception to the Housing Revenue Account. Rowan Place, Troon: Following an approach from the occupants of a house adjoining a 77 square metre piece of land it will be sold to them. The disposal of the land will reduce maintenance costs and provide a capital reception to the Housing Revenue Account. February 2006 |
