South Ayrshire Council has upgraded and expanded the South Ayrshire Online Business Directory, which is contained within South Ayrshire Council’s website and provides a free electronic business directory.

Councillor Margaret Toner, the Convener of the Council’s Economic and Tourism Development Committee said: “There are many businesses, of various sizes which are thriving in South Ayrshire. With the appropriate support small businesses can survive and, if they wish to do so, expand in future years.

“The updated Online Business Directory, which has approximately 1,400 businesses listed, is a free tool which has been designed to help support businesses in South Ayrshire.

“I would encourage everyone to take a look at the Online Business Directory and see just how useful it is to businesses and also to residents in South Ayrshire.”

The Council depends on individual businesses to supply them with information for the Directory. All information received is managed in accordance with strict quality control criteria, with every effort being made to ensure accuracy and consistency in data entry. Business details are subject to change and it is the responsibility of businesses to update the Council with new information.

The website has a ‘Business Trading Bar’ encouraging viewers to select a topic of their choice and to use the system to quickly and efficiently search for a businesses by company, location, industry or a free text search.

A very useful area for business users is the links section that gives direct links to websites that may be of use to business users and members of the public.
