Date Change For 2007 Gold Cup Weekend

A slip up by the Jockey Club has resulted in South Ayrshire Council having to change its autumn public holiday dates next year.

The Ayr Western Meeting featuring the Ayr Gold Cup normally takes place on the third weekend of September, and South Ayrshire Council had made arrangements for the traditional local holiday to take place at the same time.

However the Council was alerted to the fact that a planning error had been made by the Jockey Club and incorrect dates for the Ayr Western Meeting had been issued in their calendar of meetings.

It was reported to both the Council’s Human Resources Committee, and the Lifelong Learning Committee that the Jockey Club had advised that a change of date by them is not possible.

Now the Council has agreed to change the dates of the September holiday weekend from the 14th - 17th September to 21st - 24th September 2007.
